Tire Cutting Secrets

I'm new to this pulling game, I don't even have a tractor yet, and am trying to learn all I can. One subject I am having trouble finding anything out about is tire cutting, more specifically, how people hide the fact that their tires have been cut. So, anybody want to spill their secret methods for hiding their cut tires, or, should I say, how they have seen "others" hide theirs? Please?

I agree with Mike, to actually "cut" the tires and make them appear road wore would be virtually impossible. If people are running true cut tires in your area in uncut classes sounds like people need to grow a pair and DQ them. If you are wanting to pull in a actual cut tire class there's several methods available to cut the tires. I'm a big advocate for machine cut tires, I always thought I could cut them good by hand until I bought a machine and have ran several sets through it. I have reasonable prices if you want some cut, if you're running in a uncut class road wear is needed.

I've seen a bunch of tractors with tires on them that the drivers claimed were road worn, but others said were actually cut and then had something done to camouflage the fact. I was wondering what they are doing so I will be able to tell them apart, so to speak, and recognize when tires are cut and when they actually are just worn down. Thought if I knew the process of how they hide the cutting, I would be able to spot them.

Not looking to buy any tires yet, as I said above, I don't even have a tractor yet. Been pulling a friend's though, and I have been hooked. Just trying to learn more before I take the big plunge.

Been in this game a long time.
Biggest give away that tires are not
"road worn : lugs are too near even
:too level across lugs :. Some use a
hand planer to avoid cut marks : some
mount tires backwards and spin them
sharp on concrete. "Road worn " tires
will be non perfect tread. Uneven,
flat spots, etc...

Heres a pair of road worn 14.9 x 38 Multi-Miles that are going on a 4500 lb 3 MPH tractor.......Planed tires are easy to spot..

To stop the cheating clubs went to top-cut tires, there is no difference between road worn tires or what ever you want to call them and top cut tires. No cut on front side of lugs stops all the crying about tires and stops the home clubs members DQ some out side pullers.

supermpuller,
you are exactly right. Top cuts level the playing field. Most of the good road worn tires are gone & top cuts help the newer pullers compete against the road worn tire of the older pullers.
