New to pulling, Ohio location what to build?

I am looking to build a tractor to do a little pulling Here in Ohio. I'm located near Mansfield OH.

I'm looking to build a Moline G900 with either a 585 or 5.9 or 8.3L Cummins.

What associations and classes would be available for something like this? I'm very lost as the differences in associations and classes that are out there.

I would just go to a pull like I liked close to home. Talk to the pullers. Find out about the classes. 900 is heavy to haul. I don't want to haul over 10000 lb. With pickup. Maybe you have big truck. 585 doesn't have enough main bearings. I am building a tractor now. Easier and cheaper to buy one.

How much do you want to spend? You are going to have a hard time finding a class or association that you can use an 8.3 cummins in since its not a replacement engine for the tractor. Since you like Molines like me, the tractor that I have heard the most that would be the best to is a GB propane. Although I doubt you'll find too many classes or associations that will pay anything back for that size/age of tractor, around here anyways.

Several classes to look at:

- Central Ohio Tractor Pullers (www.coatpa.com) Classic Super Class. They approved the 585 Direct injection block but you will need to decube.
- LLSS is getting going in Ohio. You could run the 5.9 in that class if you think you can get your chassis down to 6500 lbs (or less)
- Getting to be a lot of 20.8 Tire Hot Farm Classes around. Plenty of brush pulls in a 50 mile radius that run this class.
- OSATP (www.OSATPA.com) has an altered farm stock class. This is a MPH classes and looks to me like a lot of fun.

Hope this helps....
