Info on JD A head - what is it??

I am a new puller with a JD A. At a pull yesterday, there was a heavily built A with the spark plugs repositioned to below the valve cover. Being old, I did not get on the ground to see exactly where the plugs were. Can anyone tell me what this
head might be, or what modification was done to it? Is it worth horsepower.

My guess would be a aftermarket head from murphys motor service. they are pricey but make good power.

Murphys head, they make good power if you have the cubic inches to go with it.
