Had a friend call wanting some 460 frame rails. Anyone have one junked out and want to get rid of them? Thanks.

Yes,theres a use for a 460!!! When I was a kid our main tractor on a 360 acre farm was a 1959 model Farmall 460 diesel....It made us a living...No,it probably wasn't the best tractor ever built but I much preferred it over our 1947 model A John Deere...

Theres a salvage yard near me with several 460's in it..

Glad you got along with yours. We had a gas 460 it was the most gutless, cold blooded, gas drinking tractor I ever seen. Neighbor had a dsl. in the 70's, he couldn't ever get it started.

Most of the 460-560 Farmalls in my area were diesels and several were on dairy farms that were used 365 days a year..In the late 1950's-mid 1960's there were (15) plus 560 diesels in my county and they were on some of the biggest farms..We had (3) IH dealers...I only knew of about (4) 460 diesels in the area..460-560 gas burners did love their gas..

Your neighbor must have had bad glow plugs in his 460 diesel or it was ready for an OH.....Ours always started winter or summer if the glow plugs and battery were all good....Yes,the glow plugs had to be used even in the summer....In the winter it took 1-2 minutes on the glow plugs depending on how cold it was..

I have a 1958 model 560 diesel sitting in my yard that has tons of hours on it and it has very low compression...It will start on a 70 degree day after 60 seconds on the new glow plugs..The former owner was honest and told me that this tractor had been used to death and badly needs an OH..

We had a 59 460 gas with M&W 560 pistons and 560 crank and it was a horse. It was our main tractor for years. So it drank some 20 cent gas? gm
