Re: V8 Pullers Custom/Simpons Question/Opinions needed

those old dodge rearends will never ever take the power that's needed to win that class,800 hpor a little more

It is called Mo-Men-Tum my friend. Once the tons of sled and tractor combined is moving at some speed as I indicated that the two Rockols did that day, there is a great amount of I-Ner-Tia propelling the two forward. Due to the design of the transfer sled that we all pull, it can be brought up to significant speed with the accompanying inertia, by a tractor with adequate power, before there is enough weight on the pan to require much force to pull. My statement that "There was no strain put on their rear housings or differentials" did not say NO FORCE Applied. Whatever the track conditions my friend, when a tractor does not have enough tire, or weight, or draft from the sled, to keep from breaking traction, the stress on the rear axle housing and differential is far less than what the tractor withstood hour after hour, day after day, year after year, when it was fully ballasted and working productively for its owner. Surely my friend, you are not one of those who says that we pullers abuse our tractors by using them to pull with no ballast and even often well below their working weight.

My son has one. I call it a Simpson. Looks like would be easy to put a rear from a Super Duty Ford in it. Nothing on them can't be made to take 800 hp. Especially at high speed.
