39 Farmall M rearend as weight loss option

I have a late Super M that I want to put on a diet...enough to make 4500 comfortably. I have done several things to knock the weight down since I bought it last year. I have found a set of w6 axles and a 1939 Farmall rear end. Ive been told the 39 M rear housing is considerably lighter than late model Ms, but the bull gears and other internals are lighter and weaker as well. The only bull gear failures I have heard about on Ms are the 1939 and early 1940 models. Those of you guys that pull lightweight Ms...what is your take on that rearend? Should I keep my Super M rear and just swap W6 axle housings? Any input appreciated

Forgot to mention it weighed 5050 with me on it, and Im a fat guy at 285. When I weighed it in last August it had pressed steel wheels on all four corners 14.9-38 and 6.00-15 (656 hubs in rear and 560 NF). The weight brackets were all built well, but heavy. Ive since had the belly bar and rear bracket built lighter. Ive removed the old horseshoe and hitch and replaced with much lighter setup. Also has lightweight Kelly Baldwin front end with aluminum wheels. Also have a 39 deckplate and gas tank mount. Removed pto and belly pump. Rear wheels replaced with lighter weight Cockshutt wheels. Also have a rigid seat post. Im sure Im close to 4500, but I dont know how close. The 39 rear, w6 axles, or both would get me under 4500 pretty easily Id think

The only parts that weigh less are the cast parts, the gears and shafts all weigh the same.

Super M to a 39 M rear housing is over 100 lb difference.
