Putting a 450 cam in an M block

Would there be any difference in putting a Farmall 450 cam in an M block? What things would I have to change out if I need to
like the lifters and push rods? I heard from both sides about this with either it won't change anything to giving an M more low
end torque compared to the stock M cam.

All I can say is I heard the late SM through 450 cams are the same.
I believe it should go straight in. If I am correct though, you would need to put your current cam gear on it or change the gears and front cover to have the stronger gear.

It will work fine go right in but you have to get the gear to because the new cams are left hand so the gear wouldn't work loose. They had trouble with the old ones working loos when you put contuies hdy on them.

Direct replacement for a M, after the last design camshaft used in a C-281 started being used it became the replacement camshaft for all M through 450 engines. Replacement part number came with a left hand cam gear nut for the thread change to camshaft so it worked as a replacement for M, SM, 400 and part of the 450 that came with right hand thread camshaft. Used for years and years by IH and the aftermarket as a replacement cam.
400 and 450 camshafts are a little different from M through SMTA ones other than the threads.
Think IH only claimed 1 or 1.5 horsepower gain when used in a stock c-264 in a SMTA.
