Farmall c-175 build

Hey guys I'm new to this forum thing, this is the first time I've used one so bare with me if I a little slow. Question is I currently have a farmall H I'm pulling with a c-175 engine from a farmall 350. It has reground cam, 1.7 roller rockers, custom carb and c5 ignition on it. It is a very strong tractor considering it has stock bore and stroke. Where I'm at we have a 6mph class and I pull in 3000 to 4000, or I try. Thing is the tractor can't handle the weight at that speed very well and it always results in a stalled out finish. AKA not enough power. A old timer was telling me of a man who used other IH parts from a 806 I believe and got around 90hp. Is this real? Or is this guy just wanting to feel important. I've asked him how but he's just to old to recall any details concerning this H engine build. Think he means we'll but need to know if such a beast is out there from some of you guys. Thanks

My first setup was similar to what you are doing. I had a 350 lp head but stock rocker arms. The best I ever got on the dyno was 55hp. Beat a lot of 225 inch WCs back in the day. The next setup was 3.75 x 4.75 with a ported head, 350 cam and 1.7 rockers, the best it ever did on the dyno was 70hp. These hp readings are at rated rpm. To get to your 90 hp number, you are going to need somewhere near 300 cid.

If you are cannot go to the bigger engine, make sure to tune all the little stuff. Make sure your hitch is 100% rigid and doesn't flex and meets the height/length limits, be meticulous about your tires and pressure, take advantage of how far your weights can extend, tune your governor, go through your transmission and make sure the bearings are good. These things will all help you get the power you have to the ground.

Thank you for the advice. I have considered stroking it to around 5 to 5.5, any advice on who does good work? I know Murphys and Extreme Tractor do them. Also what are your thoughts on a electric waterpump? Anyone ever tried it? and is it worth the hp gain?

Also to add I have completely went through thr transmission and final drive. It was expensive but every bearing was replaced along with seals. While I was in there I called ASAP tractor and was lucky enough to find a W4 ring and pinion. I ordered it and installed it as soon as it came in.

I cannot really recommend a crank builder. You mentioned Murphy, I think he offers complete kits that would get you to your goal. What size tires do you run? The W4 r/p isn't helping your power-out situation. I have no opinion on the electric water pump, I never ran a thermostat in my pullers.

The set up he is talking about is a half inch stoke and you use 806 gas pistion. There where a lot of them around and still some around that do pretty good but don't think that will get you to 6 MPR.

Don't stop at 5 or 5.5" Make it 5.75" or 6". Won't cost any more for the work but will make a big difference in H.P
