Allis Chalmers B

just bought a 1938 allis B for cheap. thinking about maybe playing around with it on the track. anyone have any experience pulling one? motor is locked up so it needs torn down any suggested upgrades to engine? on a budget here so any cheap tricks to make it a better puller are much appreciated.

Front end can get light, you will need to make a mount for up front or some mid brackets for weights.
1st gear is pretty fast, not sure of your speed limit, but 3 mph can be hard to stay at if you are revving it up.

Power wise you have a 116 ci motor. You can add the 125 ci sleeves and pistons for a good HP increase. (Same basic motor)
Also your carb is on the smaller side, source a D14 or D15 carb, or at least a CA carb. This will get more air and fuel into the motor.

Then you can add a D15 governor spring, this will add a lot more "snap" to the motor and allow for much higher revs.

These mods will get you in the upper 20's HP wise, which is enough for 2500 and 3000 lb classes.

If you get real snippy, a 160 ci motor from a D15 Series II will bolt on, good for 45-50 HP.

Also a 4 speed tranny from a CA will bolt on giving you better gear ratio

He is from central Pa
And upper 20's will make a good Farmstock 2500 class tractor

He needs a 160 with 45 hp and 13.6x28 or bigger if he wants to pull Noncut /div 2 in 3000,3500 around here!
