Can some one tell if a c-263 motor kit will drop into a c-221 with any problem such as having to do any block work,

Crank, rods, and pistons out of a c263 will fit in a c221 block. Yes. A 806 crank, pistons, and head will also fit nicely!!

The 806 deal I would have to bore the block which I may do or could I use the crank ,rods and have new shorter pistons made for same sleeves. Thanks for the infro.

I think we need to start over here. No need for custom pistons. If you want to change your your c221 to a c263 you must change the crank. The c221 is a shorter stroke and it is all in the crank and wrist pin in the piston. The c263 kit, as you call it, will fit right in but you have to change the crank. Lots of people do this in a work tractor because it is a cheap and easy way to get 10 more horse. The rods are all same in these engines. Pistons, crank, and head are the only thing that changes in all of this style engine that I am aware of, and I have built a few. I will watch for your next question.(lol) Lee

seems like a lot of work for 10 hp. I am trying to get max hp in a c-221 block the cheapest way. Club don't let you change block but all hidden internal work is ok. looks like I am going to change crank and bore it out to the biggest stock sleeve and piston I can put in. Thanks for your help I am new at this so this helps me a lot!

If you want it rebuildable, bore the block to accept C291 sleeves (gas 706). If you don't need rebuildable, bore to accept standard, or even oversized C301 (gas 806) pistons.

Leave it a 221 and balance it to 5 grand it will make enough power to desenagrate the rear end in just a short time , or put the money in putting the 301 "kit" in using a 806 or combine head preferably lp with manifold will really wake of up as well , remember the rear end will be the weak point.

What Lee is trying to tell you. Is you need no sleeves! Just the pistons and crank from a 301 from a combine 715. 503. or a 806 tractor. Also will need to cut the top off your old sleeves. To make a filler ring at the top. Also most 301 combine engines have no number. Just the smaller ones.

There putting RD 501 motors in 460 and 560 , rear end will hold up fine with a 301 motor in a 460. Son has one and pulls dead weight and running pulls from 4500 to 6500 lbs. No rear-end problems and its been 10 years.
