HP vs weight

I pull a farmall M and start in the 4500 class , 4th gear ,my hitch runs 26 to 28 inches behind the axle and 20 inches height. Its a strong puller, I do o.k but no good enough. Just wondering switching rear ends with a w6 to get more speed or just switch back to the cast hubs and start in the 5500. Any one else got a M in the 4500?

Tire size? Do you lose traction or power first in 4th? Does the front end lift before the end of the pull? What restrictions are there on the modifications you can make? To many variables to give you much help. Are you required to use wheelie bars and if so are you dragging them by the end of the pull.

I have a light weight front end that's lowered, never power out and cut tires. I run 15 .5. Started playing with hitch length to help get some traction, it helped but with the guys moving up from the 3500 with the weights in the right spot ,they're hard to beat. We don't run wheelie bars. Most of our tracks are loose stone dust,I just can't get a bite. We usually can only pull twice , so the 4500 is easy, only need to carry 1000 for the next class

You probably get beat by guys running 12.4-38's in that class. On loose tracks I always beat dudes running huge tires with either my 12.4's or 11.2's on my H. You cant get good compaction on a soft track with a wide tire.
