Any insight on how hard to comfortably spin an Oliver 4 main engine with good parts, weighing my class options before I settle on a cam. 515"

Kinda depends on your stroke. Longer stroke equal less rpm. I would say 3 to 3800 on a 4 main. Good parts and reasonable rpm equal dependable longevity.

Was hoping for 3000 rpm.crank is at shop going to 5.4inches, was wondering about cam grind and where to try to make peak horse and torque.

You can do 2700 to 3000 with that crank. Wouldnt run any more than 3. Find someone who has Gingrich cam grind numbers or any good racing cam company would have a profile.
