I just bought a Ford 960 and wanted to play with it a little. Are some guys rotating the drop axle back when they put 38's on them? I have a 192 industrial engine for it. Just looking to pull in the light 3 to 5 mph classes. Thanks.

There is no need to rotate the Final Drives and I'm sure you could. Most that run 38" rubber make conversion plates to adapt the 8 bolt ford pattern to 9 bolt wheels. A well tuned 192 would be pretty good at 4500 or less depending on the type of tracks you pull on and at 3.5 MPH
in low gear, probably won't hack 2nd which with 15.5 X 38s is well over 5 Mph. If its a 960 with the two stage clutch, find a good clutch shop to beef it up.

Alot of engine work and be done if you want to improve performance.
