MM Z compression

I have a MM z I picked up as a puller. It has a 10a2648 head, offset ground crank, Bored to largest replacement pistons available. Not sure of exact dimensions. I was told it is still low compression and can run 87 octane. How do I go about getting compression higher? Is there going to be a big difference in power to make all the work worth it? I believe I could machine pieces to attatch in the combustion area to help squeeze a little more. Does this sound right/safe to anyone?

If I remember right. A R head had bumps that went into the combustion chamber. Maybe the same head a LP ZA had. Why not change to a u302 engine.

This is my first MM. I'm not familiar with any of their engines, only the info I got of what this was. It is a very good tractor in my opinion. I guess it dynos mid 50's. I have a water leak I need to fix this winter from a freeze plug. I figured while it was apart might as well play.

I have a z engine bored and stroked that makes close to 60hp but the real problem with them is they just don't breath very well. The later over head valve engine is way better. As far as your head the lp head has the biggest lump to fill the combustion chamber I have heard of guys making it bigger. The pistons were all flat top except the r it had a little knot on top of it but won't work for your application.

What are the overhead engines and their potential? Are they legal for division 2? I probably would never change this engine out but always fun to learn new things.

I don't think they are legal in div 2. They are a better breathing engine and you can bore them much bigger. Probably some around that make 100hp I would guess mine at 75-80
