Oregon Tractor Jack

I have an H that I pull with. It has been bored and stroked and the RPM tops out at 2650 rpm. When I bought it, it had an small (read that as cheap) low pressure fuel pump on it. At the last pull the pump failed and put me out of the pull. I talked to other pullers and none of the antique pullers have fuel pumps. Should I pull it off and let gravity be my friend or replace it?
Also, does going to an electric fan have any real horse power advantages at my RPM? The tractor still has the stock four blade fan and at full RPM it does move a lot of air. The tractor puts out more horsepower (50hp) than I have traction for in 4 MPH classes. I have yet to up shift to second for 6 MPH classes that could be a different story on HP verses traction.
Opinions?
