Have an oliver 88 engine bored 4.375, sleeve leaking water in oil, hard blocked up to where temp. probe goes in, still leaking water. Can i install copper head gasket to seal water from block without hard blocking all the way up? If so, where do I tap head in rear for water from electric fuel pump? I have heard that hard blocking engine can distort sleeves??? Not to much to loose as block is no good because of what hard block has been added. any and all thoughts appreciated.

I think hard blocking keeps sleeves from distorting. I have managed to get it out of a Allis block. Some good running Olivers have Oil in the cooling system. Don't know whether the water will run from the back to the front of your head. But you could turn it upside down and see. I have just looked from the under side to know where to bore the hole in head. Do you have a spare to look at? I have put block stop leak in on top of the hard block straight 1/2 in. Deep let set for a few days. Hope this helps.

Preferably, you will need to pressure the cooling system to get the material to penetrate and seal.

Regarding the head, I haven't had to do it but I've talked with others that run the coolant through the head. They put the coolant in through the back end of the head.
