We have a speed limit of 3 mph,iam in 1 gear low range at 1/4 throttle.my tires are 14x9x38.When running down the road with the tractor its got twice the speed the other a we have. The other a is at full throttle and i can come up along side of him at half throttle to keep up with him.We also measured the tires around i was 1 inch longer than his tire.I realy would like to pull this tractor but cant like this. Thanks

A 1949 A has a 1st gear speed of 2.5MPH on 12.4X38's at 975 RPM's. The taller 14.9's should put you at about 2.75 MPH at 975 RPM's. You
stated you were at "1/4 throttle". That really doesn't mean much. What RPM were you running? At 1050 RPM's you should be at 3.0 MPH with no
slippage. I've run a 3.0 MPH class on 18.4X38's in 2nd gear (1949 A) without blowing the horn, but at about 800 RPM's to start with and add
throttle as slippage increases. Are you running out of power? If not, what's the problem?
You can install late A first reduction gears, and that will slow you down about 8-9%. You're better off to put a set of balls in the tractor
so it will run the gear you already have. Mike
