can you shift the power director on the go in that model. is it high to low or a forward- reverse ?

You can shift on the go. But not as smooth as a IH or MM, because you have a neutral to go through. They did make them that had reverse instead of 30 % slower. I have taken the pto and hyd off and I have 7 holes to plug!

I haven't given up on racketty boom yet. But would like to have something heavier.426 diesel from a combine

For the heavy classes you might start with a D19 chassis and drop in a slightly bigger (844 cu.in.) Allis six cylinder engine in. Maybe paint the whole tractor purple to match the engine. Supposedly the engine was available in gas as well as diesel. I've never seen one of the gas versions, but with some work it may be able to keep up with the big Molines.

Vic, What class are you building that for? I am wanting to talk to those that may be interested in a 6000 -7000lb blower class. I have about three goals in mind with this class. 1- have some speed 2,- control cost 3 - get more involved in pulling. Just to get this out of the way it would be a mph class, somewhere around 15-16 mph. In doing that I achieve two of my goals and that is to control cost and have some speed. I am thinking a box turbo in the 2.3 3lm466 range all bought from the same supplier. Hope to make this happen with stock and I mean stock blocks 466,426,451,504 ect. I am sure one would need a little pump work. I think IH could run 706 and such Case could run 730 and such Olivers 1650s.
18.4 38 tires your choice of cut. We would need roll bars skids and some basic safety equipment. So get that AC going and we will exhibition some this summer.
