Thought some people might like to see what
the sub arc process looks like. I left a
little of the slag on. This isn't a
stroker crank, just a weld up and repair.
The crank temperature was at about 360
degrees when finished, and there was no
distortion.

That's the same machine I have. I am using the Gleason mild wire. Do you have an email high octane? I've been having some issues with the flux returning to the hopper.

email should be open now. ive had some problems too. it wont do it all at once. ive been having to set the switch to auto, n set the head stock to its turn on point,, then ill watch the psi guage n listen. it usually takes me 4 to 6 attempts, by turning the power switch on n off n it goes again. ive seen it peg the guage a few times, n had to on off on off for it to go. ive also noticed that when it does that, it has a lil buildup infront of the discharge n has to blow it out of the way. my tray, has a fine screen that helps keep small pieces of wire out of flux hopper n valve. i have the kastalloy wire, but been practicing with reg mig wire on steel with no gas or flux. does alright on steel n your right, that doesnt make alot of excessive heat to distort. im a novice but have had it for a while.

theres a regulator on the back of mine, not the main regulator, but up on back of carrage. mite give that an adjustment, see if that helps. i think that may control some of that.
