aluminum rad.?

I put a new aluminum rad. from a Honda civic in my oliver 77 should I leave the thermosat in or not? seems to fun hot without it. I did us a big washer with about a 1 in. hole in it. it also has electic fan. any help would be great. Thanks

if it runs hot without the thermostat the radiator isn't big enough.remove all restrictions
