John Deere 50 in stock pulls

We are getting a good running John Deere 50. It will be in stock tractor pulls. Up here the tracks aren't super hard. Some are quite loose.
How much would the 50 typically weigh?
Was there more than one gear option out there such as high or low speed gears?
Any other info on how the 50 competes in stock pulling is appreciated.

If the 50 has a low first gear it will be competitive. The B became the 50 and from what I understand some B's had a transmission with a low first gear. The JD experts will know. You may have to lose some weight to be competitive.

A GOOD 50 (GAS) is like a Late Styled "B" (Gas) and will pull well (in 1st gear)..
Have FUN and enjoy the Pulling..just don't expect to dominate..there will be JD "B" tractors show up that can pull the sled in 3rd or 4th gear and claim "Stock", as well as Farmal "H" and "M" tractors..
Watch them throw dirt and enjoy the sight..!
YOU have every right to be there IN the Competition as they do..(AND-YOU just may WIN)..
It DOES Happen..!!

I have a 50 that I put 15.5s on tin wheels,removed the air
cleaner, put 12 " tires on the front. With the weight brackets and
the wheelie bars I can pull in the 4500# class. It pulls in the 5500
the best and pretty good in the 7000#class. 2 nd or 3rd in the 45
and 1st in the rest. Hope this helps. Good luck.

The three most important items to work on or tune to pull successfully are traction, traction and traction.
The hitch must be as high as possible as legally allowed.
Drawbar length and and moving weights for and aft as required to carry the front wheels a few inches in the air for the last 10-20 ft.

There is a 50 in southern Michigan .125 overbore 10-1 comp.
that eats stock g and A and Farmall H's and M for lunch. The
weights where they belong the right 15.5 tires and 5000# Thru
7500# and hold on and have fun. Send the big boys home not
wanting to admit what took first place.

You're right, I've pulled against this JD 50 at Camden, MI and at 6500 lbs he beat my JD G by 2 1/2 feet on a just fair condition track. This 50 has a strong engine all right but at that weight and with no particular rules enforced about types of weights allowed and where they can be positioned as well as engine RPM and drawbar configuration I felt I did real good with my Division I legal tractor....I don't think this tractor would be allowed to pull Division I or II where NATPA rules were enforced.
