John Deere G crank

How far can you stroke a G crank before you have to notch the cam? How far before you cut the back out of the case?

Murphy's has a "minimal" grind kit for a 9" crank. I think you just have to touch a couple of spots in the crankcase for everything to swing

I have just completed a MURPHY 9 inch set up it is a very nice arrangement with minimal clearance work to case but the cam does not require clearancing...... but FYI this configuration has small rod journals. The tractor runs excellent hooked it for first time over thanksgiving weekend was very pleased......But if you want to do minimal grinding on case 8.5 stroke with A rods 3 inch journals works really nice and the cam requires clearance as well.Murphy produces TOP QUALITY PRODUCTS he does great work!

I wouldn't worry about notching cam. Cams the easy part to
clear. Anytime you stroke there's top clearance issues. 8.5 w/
a rod works well. .125 over pistons.

Did a G at .090 over a/ 8.375 and I did up a cyclone head and all the goodies. He pulls 99 hp so with extra bore an stroke just over 100

Mine's at 8 3/8's with A rods, and the cam is notched pretty good.. I did minimal grinding on the rods...
Like Josh said, I wouldn't worry about grinding on the cam, that's the easy part..
It was just a crank that was cheap at the time.. and I didn't have to cut out the case wall..
After you're done, you'll wonder why you didn't just cut the wall out, and go bigger the first time..
