My son has got his unstyled B in the shop and wants to build it I have a styled for parts not sure of year the tag is missing and from what I have found the later one had bigger motors is it worth the effort to put the later motor in his unstyled tractor? Thanks for any advice.

First off-where is he going to pull and what are the rules? You can dump alot of money in a "B" really fast.
The old set up 40 years ago was take a war time "B" bore the unstyle block for the later 4.5 pistons. Take the later model crank and off set it for the unstyle rods from 5.500 to 5.750
JD 50 cam. This is about the cheapest set up for power. This well give you about 183 cu. The next set up is use the war time back half and use the unstyle front half. There is alot of people on this forum that pull "B's". WTW, Shellum Boys and Josh Blackburn are on here and could help you out plus many others.Good Luck!

What's the budget , cheap thing to do would be over bore it 125 over ( late b pistons and have josh do cam and lengthen rods make an honest 40hp maybe a smidge more , if you wanna spend some money josh has a good stroker motor set up with 5 3/8 power block and 7 1/2-7 3/4 crank
