I have a ih 301 that I am putting in my 560 to pull 8mph class. I have one bad cylinder that is pitted bad from being seized. My machine shop said that the motor is good and they can sleeve that cylinder and I can still run 3.9375" bore. My question is to the 301 pullers is do I sleeve the one cylinder or do I bore the hole motor out and sleeve the hole motor to 4.125" and dryblock. Any help would be very appreciated

Depending on what other rules you have I would say if you want to run 8mph I would go ahead and take it out to 4.125 and hardblock it. Get as much bore as you can. Is it going to be stock stroke?

Call bobby Hinton for a crank , he has one for sale that's perfect n needs a home , the guy got it made n now isn't gonna be able to build it so it's done n ready to go and it's a really nice crank 270 927-6807

Do like Chad (High Octane) says. Sleeve all 6.
I would call the man about the crankshaft on the other post as well. Chances are you'll be money ahead that way.

thanks guys for your help Im going to sleeve all six. High octane when you mean flange the top do you grove the top of the block so the sleeve can sit inside the groove

yea. i install a .250 deep counterbore into top of block, the sleeve will need to have a flange at top that matches the counterbore specs. leave em tall, the have it decked n have a .002 standout. if youve had a 560 sleeved engine apart n had sleeves out, your mimicking the design of the sleeve/counterbore for better sealing beacuse it will now be a wet sleeved engine.
