John Deere B Valve Lift

Does anyone have the specs for valve lift on a 40 B. I'm planning on stretching rods this winter but need to find out valve lift to see how far I can stretch them.

Roll it over with a dial indicator on the valve tip. Fast & ez job. Remember to leave 80 thou on intake & 100 on exhaust for piston clearance.

Get a new cam, ground to BETTER specs before you proceed...you will be much happier with the power produced..

PD The valves are all but closed at TDC so clearance will not be an issue. Just guessing about a B using what an A does lift would be around .430 inch. Lynn

My B has high ratio Murphy rockers & a custom cam which brings max valve lift to .780" & my pistons go nearly to zero deck without issue. It's maybe 0.040" in the hole or something. Remember these head gaskets are THICK also, perhaps 60 thou.

As previously stated. Don't waste two seconds of your time on a worn out or a stock cam.
