There looks to have been some major changes to the rules for D1 and D2.

Rules for Divisions I and II Changes:

6. Tires and Rims: Maximum tire size - 2500-4500 maximum tire size is 15.5x38 or 200 sq. in. on any width rim; 4501-6500 up to a 16.9 X 34 or 229 sq. in. on any rim width 6501-9500 maximum tire size is up to a 18.4x38 on any width rim. No radial tires. No steel wheels. No chains. No duals. Two wheel drive only. No cut or altered tire is allowed in Divisions I and II. (This rule change added on (06/20/14).

Any idea the driver for the tire size change?

For those that are going to pull with NATPA, I suggest you look at the NATPA website.

From what I understand, The website is hopefully being repaired today. There was confusion when the webmaster entered rule updates. DIV 1 and 2 tires sizes HAVE NOT CHANGED! THEY ARE LIKE THEY ALWAYS HAVE BEEN. Div 2T you can run 16.9x34's in the respective weight classes like you can in div 2 (that is either starting at 4500 or 5000, I forgot which right now).....again, it was an error and then the webmaster was gone for a while. they are working on getting it fixed and apologized for the confusion. Most people that wondered actually called a board member and asked what happened and was told this. Pretty easy to do.

Pretty easy to call, but how would the officials like to field calls from the 100 people that compete in these classes?

Sorry Rich
Just 2T change to Match division 2 So some one who doesn't quite fit division 2 has a place to Pull in 2T

You had this class going good and it fit the rules almost any where you go and now you messed that up.

LCB...what did they mess up? they allowed 16.9x34s in a few classes so it matched up with Div 2. 99.9% of the people will not run 16.9x34s now because of it.

If 99.99% wont run them why change it. That don't make any sense to me. The 15.5 14.9 is pretty much the rule no matter where you go. To get new people to your pulls you need to do what every body else is doing.

it affects the ones that aren't compliant to div 2 rules and had no where to pull but get thrown into div 3. they now can pull in those same respective weight classes in 2T. People that ACTUALLY attend the pulls understand. People that type and don't go do not understand. very simple.

I have been to your pulls to watch and also pull is the reason I don't pull with you. I came to Princeton In last year to watch and seen that nothing has changed. You can bet I will be there Thanks giving. Come and see how a real pull is run.

Whats the big deal. Most people on this site think little tires are better anyway! And besides 16.9 X 34's are easier to find. Then Tunica top cut class is 16.9 X 38's. go figure? :)

Well VicS you come to Princeton with your little tires and I will come with my 18 and we will see how that works. And I due have a pair of 16.9X38 that I could part with if you cant find any.

I do have a bran new Cale cut set of full cut firestorms. 16.9x38 Might try them at Tunica. They have a speed board there. Think will leave the 18.4x34 on for Princeton. Slow the motor down and give you-all a chance :) Vic.
