3208 oliver

I am building a oliver with a 3208 cat I'm wanting to be 900 to 1000 hp and was wondering if anyone out there could give me any advice on what needs to be done to get there thanks for any help

Like said you better have big wallet. Is there a way of dropping in a 3408 which is a better motor. The company I drove for had about 10 L series Ford semi tractor with 3208 naturally aspirated engines and they had bottom end problems. They took some of the trucks and adapted them to IH turboed DT 466s that run forever.

Hi Looks like my opinion of that motor has been covered by a few others. had one blow in a stieger that was non turbo and stock, When I worked in the wreckers, it tied the rods in nots and wrecked the block idling in the guys yard!.
we fitted a used motor from a 4wd white. it was gutless as a stock motor. My boss who was Cat trained on these motors, refused to open the pump, as he knew it wouldn't take the extra power they wanted in the tractor. another guy told me there is a reason that motor was lemon color to.
I guess if you must use that motor there are loads of used ones around from NH combines and some old trucks when you need another. My buddy sold a combine motor last month to go in a 4wd white, with some parts having to be swapped to make it run right in the tractor. He said that old white motor 3208 tied the rods in knots as well from what the guy told him.
I don't know about the newer motors but figure you'll burn plenty of money and waist some time with a 3208, But ya never know you might get lucky.

Go ask around on pull off.
But, last Friday night in Penfield Illinois there was an IPA pull. There was a sweet looking Oliver 2255 in the pro-farm class. It sounded cool on take off but it got squirly on him coming out of the hole and had to shut it down. Only one around I have seen like that. I think the name on the tractor said Beck or Becker farms from Marine Illinois. So Im sure it can be done, just need to talk to the right guys. I had a 3208 turboed in a tandem grain truck, backed the fuel screw clear out and ran her hard. Engine out lasted the truck. I wouldn"t be afraid to think out side the box, if all else fails you can always build a 466 IH like everybody else! LOL (I have an IH 1466 if anybody is looking to build)
