Track maintence equipment - Scrapers

Just looking for some ideas on differnt track maintence equipment that you guys have run accross. Currently we have a 7' box scraper and tow behind wobble wheel/roller.

I have seen pictures of tractors outfitted with belly mounted scrapers/hones and kind of like the idea. Some of the places we go are very small and tight so I can see a big advantage.

I have a Farmall Super C with a Fast Hitch and thought it would be a pretty slick candidate seeing its very nimble and light to haul. I could use the touch controls to raise and lower in the middle and have rear use the fast hitch along with a sprayer to maintain the moisture in the track.

Does anyone have any close up pictures of something like this? Ive seen some pictures of an MD in western PA set up simliar to this. Is having a V shaped cutting edges better than a rectangle box scraper?

One of the main concerns or problems I see, its having the front "v" float without digging in too much. I could use chain or cables too lift too allow it to come up and down without down pressure?

Lots of questions but just thinking outloud and looking for more ideas! Thanks for your help!!

Dave Haley (spl?) nw ohio has the slickest operation iv seen . Also have seen a skidsteer used to fill in spinout holes , worked good.

The Dave Haley-style units are good, there's a couple nice ones floating around in Michigan that do some great work out of the Niethammer stable. Takes a lot of weight and horsepower to move a lot of dirt in a hurry. The skid steer with the rake attachment is very nice also, seeing more and more of those in my travels.

I have dave haley do my fair for me, his tractors have scraper under them and tow a roller behind really fast and do a great job. i live close and could get you in contact with him.He has built quite a few of them over the yearsl very knowledgable

Larry Stephens has a D17 that has the scraper
underneath. He started with a 2 row cultivator. It
is a double V. Pulls the roller behind it. Also
has saddle tanks for water. The water is on a
started switch under your left foot. Takes about
all the power the D17 has to pull it in high 3 rd.
Don't think a super C is horse enough.

I agree there is no way that my Super C could scrape and pull the roller together, but it should simply handle scraping no problem??? Im still wondering weather or not this is a better option vs just building a 3 point traditional hone you find with the big sleds and outfitting with a watering system?

The skid steer with the rake or harrow what ever you want to call it is really slick. It fills the holes and then blade and roller after that you cant beat this way of maintaining tract.

Dave's set up is pretty slick. The front unit is
landing gear from a semi trailer and the jack has
a hydraulic motor attached to raise and lower
front height. The rear is controlled by a double
cylinder which controls down pressure. I have
personally seen him hit so hard he can pick up the
rear wheels of the tractor. H uses an MD with 4bt
and 560 and they pull a wobble wheel roller. One
man can do it all and in record time. If you ever
get the chance stop at the NATPA Pull in
Tallamadge OH and you can see it in action.

Wow thank you for the info! I have found a few pictures now that you guys have mentioned his name and that makes a lot of sense with the front now. Very cool! I have seen him him videos of Full Pull production pulls. It looks as though he has a couple "V"'s for his scaper? How about the hitch for the roller? just regular drawbar? Ive noticed that if we use a 3 point hitch with reciever it helps the roller "swing" and cover up the tracks nicely.

Thanks again for all the replies, and I love the ideas of the Skid steers too.
