Pulling a 4010

I am considering pulling my 4010 diesel at a county fair. It has a strong running overhauled motor at 404 cu now. 16.9-38 fluid filled new rear tires. I just don't know what gear is my best bet.?? Any experienced guys that could point me to the right gear? Thanks

I pulled a 4010 with 18.4X38 tires. With a short chain and a clay track. 2nd I was pulling 12000 NA. If have a diesel pump guy close. Put a MW turbo leaf spring in and take two of the governor weights out. Opposing ones. You can get about 3500 rpm them. really wakes it up. Also 1 qt. of 2 cycle oil to 5 gallons of diesel. You might have already did this, but turn the drawbar around and drill a new hole in it as short as possible. I also unhooked the pipe from the aircleaner under the hood. Have fun Vic ps: dump the fluid.

I pull a 4010 with 20.8 x 38"s, has M&W turbo along with pump screw in injection pump. Make 200hp. I run 4th in 9000 & 3rd in 10,000. Tractor weigh"s 6700 with me on it. I won"t pull it above 10,000.

Just a follow up. Weight was 9488. Pulled in 3rd. Should have pulled in 4th. Track was like field dirt. Got a trophy for 3 rd place. Lost to a w9 and a G. ouch.

Pretty significant difference between 3rd and 4th. You probably did the right gear. Not too many will pull 4th without a good bit of work at that weight
