Hi I am having trouble getting a new tractor to hook up, oliver 990 ,18.4 x38 Firestone sat on 18" rims, trying to run in 7000 and 8000 , stock, mostly 8000 , trying 6 and 7 lbs ,no luck ,mostly hard clay tracks, short season here, thanks in advance for any suggestions, [we have similar tractor in 10000 and 12000, with 20.8 x34 sats at 7psi and get along ok]

hard track,--hard tire, most accept that theory.I am not a fan of low pressure, tire bar front edges can not bite !!!!!!!!!!!

Dump the sat II's they're useless on a hard track. Then run more like 14-16psi on a heavy tractor-big rubber like that. Top-cut them if it's allowed. JMO

Have been using 3rd,last pull of the season coming up ,just out of ideas, sat seem to work on our other tractors, still need to lose weight to get into 7000 anyone know what stock hitch assembly weighs? Thanks again for all replies

I think that you will be too light in 7000, unless it enables you to pull in fourth. I agree with GTX about the SATs I've never seen anyone do well with them. You have too much surface area on the ground so your psi on the track surface is much lower than with an F&R. Where are you that you are done? I am planning on ten more this season.

I agree with gtx on just the pressure. No one tire is best every time. I also think the lighter you can make it the better.
