570 Super RPM's

Still looking for a little more power out of my 570 Super Diesel pulling tractor. It has a stock 339 Herc and is getting all the fuel it can handle.I've removed all restrictions from the air intake and replaced the oil bath with a K+N cone filter.I was curious if adjusting the governor spring tighter to raise the RPM's would help?I think gas engines respond well to RPM's but not sure about diesels. The class I'm in allows 2800.I do have the PSB American Bosch pump so it's an easy adjustment.I've been consistantly finishing 2nd behind the same tractor by only a couple of feet and I don't like it.

This is just my opinion but if it was my tractor, I would pull the 339 out of the tractor and set it gently in the corner because those are kind of hard to find. Go find a D3400 Hercules with a Roosamaster pump and play with that. I think you will find that the Roosa is easier to hot rod and parts are easier to find for the engine as a whole. If your bent on running the 339, you could probably put a Roosamaster with some mixing and matching of parts.

Doing harm to my engine is the main reason I haven't pushed it much past stock yet.I think I'll leave it be at 82 hp and lighten it up a bit more to pull in 6000# and 7000# classes.I think mph limits are coming soon even to our enhanced classes anyways. Thanks for your replies.
