Cockshutt 570 super needs more power

I've been pulling a 570 Super for years and have a few power Questions for anyone with knowledge of these tractors. It has the stock 339ci Hercules Diesel which I've overhauled and it runs at 2000 rpm's(no load)and the govenor seems to work real well under load. The pump and injectors where also rebuilt. It starts and runs great and makes 80 hp on the dyno.I've turned the pump up to the point where power reaches 80 hp.Any further beyond this point and power starts to fall off below 80 hp due to too much fuel.I believe I've done all I can with this simple adjustment. It does blow lots of black smoke under full load at this setting, sometimes even a little fire under extreme conditions. Is there anything else I should try such as timing changes or bigger injectors?I've heard that adding a electric fuel pump to supply the injection pump helps but since I can get too much fuel already,I question if it will help me.Since I'd like to move up to the "Enhanced tractor"class I'd even consider adding a turbo since the rules allow if anyone has any Ideas what would be a good choice.I am a machinist so fab work isn't a road block.Even ten more hp would be good but 20-40+ would be great. Thanks for any suggestions.

Tenny, You need to get more air in so you can burn all that fuel when you turn the pump up, hog out the intake manifold, maybe put bigger valves and port and polish the head, if it has a heater in the intake, take it out. Chuck

Yep,more air is what I was thinking too(Turbo).I have switched to a KN style filter in place of the oil bath.Never thought about the heater which it does have still and I don't need for my use.I'd like to stay away from serious head work but might have to go there as it may be my best solution. Thanks for your interest.

Has anybody out there had good results from increasing the rpm's on a Diesel 570 Super w/the 339 Herc?Or any other non-turbo diesel for that matter?I know gas engines respond well to rpm's but not sure about diesels.Except for turning up the injection pump to get max HP and getting rid of intake resriction's,it's otherwise stock.I'm not thinking crazy rpm's.The class only allows 2800.It appears to be a real simple adjustment to the governor spring on this PSB-American Bosch pump.I've got a pull coming up this weekend and would like to try something.I'm growing tiered of 2nd place by 1-2 ft margins to the same tractor.
