electronic ignition and hot coil on a farmall m plug gap

I put a electronic ignition and a flamethrower coil on my M. my question is I was reading the paperwork that came with the coil it said you could increase the plug gap to use the extra energy of the coil. I have oversized the jets and get a lot of fuel I get a lot of black smoke.but the motor is running smooth and pulls strong. Could I get I little more by trying a wider plug gap?

That coil should be able to fire .045-.060 gap. I have points in my Oliver 66 and I run .045 gap on a 12v system with a delco coil.

Depends on compression I guess, before my engine build we were running hot coil, electronic ignition, MSD box, and was running .060 gap. Once the build was done we are at .025, we were literally blowing out the spark!

That ultra turbo mega Blitzburg ignition system isn"t going to add power to a M and make it pull like a 450.
A high powered ignition system is required for a high compression pressure engine with 8 cylinders , high rpm and hard to ignite fuel.
A four cylinder M running stock compression and 2200rpm does not demand a high capacity ignition system. About 1/5 to 1/6 of the sparks to jump per minute. Lower voltage demand to jump the same sized gap .
Too much plug gap and she will cross fire under the distributer cap.
