Poll: how wide rims for 18.4x38's

About to widen 2 sets of pressed steel wheels for 18.4x38"s. One set will be for firestone F-151 that will not be cut and the other will be for a set of bf Goodrich power grips that will be cut once mounted. How wide of rims are y"all running for this tire size?

I like the rims same size as the tire , on a 15.5 I'd use a 16 on a 12.4 I'd use a 12 and on 16.9 it would be a 16 . if it was me I'd use a 18 on that 18.4 but all the above is just my opinion .

Don't think it makes any difference. That said. I have a buddy that has 14.9's on a 12 inch rim. He won the 50 yrs of progress 4500 lb. last year. Is in the Antique puller last issue and is listed as coming in first a few times. I like a 16 in rim for a 18.4. Just like the tire co, recommends. :) Vic

I have a set of BF Goodrich powersaver radials 18.4x38 on 19" wide rims and they work great. I think it depends a little on the types of tracks you will be pulling on and what kind of pulling you do. Jim

Around here most places have tire/rim rules. Rim should not be wider than tire width, then there's tire size rules within the weight classes.
That being said I have a set of 20.8-38 BFG Power Savers on 20" rims that work real good on a hot farm tractor.

Buddy of mine has a mis matched set of 18.4-38 firestone radial's one radial all traction and one radial 23° on 18" rims that works awesome. They pull better than the 18.4-38 bias all traction on 22" wide rims he had on before.
