Stamped vs cast centers

Why is it that some places won't let you pull stamped steel centers? Ive heard of a lot more people breaking wedges on cast centers than I've heard of people having trouble with stamped wheels. Seems to me if you want tractors to come to your pull it shouldn't matter what kind of wheels you have on it, just have a MPH limit in every class and its fair!

Yeah I use to go for the fun and the people you meet more than winning but anymore it seems they either want rules against your tractor or they have a governing body that runs you and all your friends off, after awhile they get tired of pulling against themselves and wonder where everybody went. When you have a president of an organization willing to bend the rules in his favor just to win a stupid jacket the end is near and it's a damn shame in my opinion.

I know of one pull where a guy asked if he can run stamped wheels and they said it was ok, let him pull, and disqualified him because he won the class! And it wasn't like he was trying to get into a lighter class, he had to throw on a 1000 lbs to get into it! Let everybody run stamped wheels and go down a lower weight bracket if that's what your worried about. It's at least a little bit less weight you have to drag around the pulls, plus it's safer, and that should be the big reason they should let you run them. I guess I'm just venting because after being out of pulling for two years and and finally getting one of the two tractors built and a neighbor comes down to look at it and informed me that places won't let me pull because of the rims and running HEI distributor

I am friendly with a fellow who runs a small pull and I made a suggestion about how to get more guys to come. his response was that it already takes too long to run everybody through. The organizers of another pull that I have been to only twice, because it was just not a pleasant experience, actually sent letters to a bunch of our local guys two years ago inviting them to NOT come. Another small club made the jump from stone boat to sled about ten years ago, and started to get a lot more participants. after three seasons they went back to stone boat. Bigger is not for everyone.

was wondering if you were running a rd in a 560 if so i am building one in ohio and wondered if you could let me know how to put a HEI distributor in it thanks

Complaining about wheels is dumb. I have cast and I doubt that will change. You won't see me crying over stupid crap. If they want a two dollar trophy that bad I'll gladly step aside. I'm there for the fun and if I happen to do good or even win a class that's great but whatever.
