Thanks I wasn't sure if they just changed the head gasket to change the compression or if they made the combustion bowl different sizes to change thee cc's anx compression .
 
i'm not a farmall person but when you turbo a diesel engine of any brand you always use lower compression, the turbo puts more air into the engine and the more power you want to make the lower compression pistons you use and bigger turbo and more fuel. I have a 600 cummins standard compression for that engine 14.5 to 1. I used 13.2 to 1 pistons bigger turbo more fuel different timing and have about 850 hp now
 
Yes there is a difference. The natural pistons are 18 to 1, a division turbos are 16 to 1. Trust me, I just wanted went down this road for a pulling engine. I was lucky enough to find a set of natural pistons from IH for my 466.
 
There's guys running 10:1 in the high performance diesel engines you see pulling (not antiques). John Deere's ether sales go way up during pulling season!
