JD 720 tires

my farm stock 720 always spins out around the 200 ft mark in 2nd gear pulling mostly on dirt tracks with an occasional gravel track. it has road worn 15.5 38 good year dyna somethings with fluid in them. how they are worn one bar might have 50% yet then the next one will be 0 - 10% and so on. i pull 9500 and 10500 with it with all but 2 to 300 pounds of my weight on back. would new tires help any? rules say factory stock tire sizes i dont know if any 720's came with 16.9 38? that would get me taller, wider tire and a little more speed. if i cant go with 16.9, would a 14.9 be better than 15.5 because it is taller?

opinions, advice, experiences, and suggestions to get me farther down the track are welcome

thanks

throw away the Goodyrs for sure,have you tried air pressure.I have all kinds of 15.5 x 38 and some 14.9 x 38,also 16.9 x 34.

Yes, get rid of the Goodyears for starters. 720's did not come with 16.9's. If you can run 14.9's that's what I would suggest. A 14.9 will have a little more rubber on the ground than a 15.5. According to the Firestone charts the 14.9 is 200 sq in and 15.5 is 189. Most places will let the 14.9's go thinking they are smaller than 15.5's.
