I'm new to pulling a 44 Massey and looking for some help building one. Am I better off to stay with the 44 engine, put a 55 engine in it, or a use parts from a 55 engine in the 44. Our rules would allow us to use the 55 engine in the modified class. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Prairie Puller -

You will be much better off with the 44 engine. I can get more power out of the H260 with less money than the J382. Besides, you could pull it other places that would not allow the 55 engine in a 44 chassis...

How much power are you wanting? That is the question you have to answer before you can really start a build...

We are basically just wanting a 3-3.5 mph tractor what would be equivalent to a NATPA division 2 or a farm stock 2 tractor. Eventually we may decide to run faster classes but that's several years down the road.
