A single stage radial compressor is good for approx two atmospheres of pressure and still operate in an efficient area of it's flow curve. Above two atmospheres the compressor efficiency drops . Now the air is over heated and power demands , this back pressure on the turbine side increases. Rapidly into the point of diminishing returns when over boosting.

Here is a link to a random turbo map but it's good enough example.
It shows the turbo operating in it's ideal, most efficient and adding the least heat to the intake air. Operating between 25lbs airflow and a 1.5X pressure ratio ( 7psi boost) to 45lbs airflow and 2.0 pressure ratio with 15psi boost.
Not a whole lot of turbos that can make a 3.0 pressure ratio ( 30 psi) boost and still be running efficient. Ideal operational range will be narrow too.
