Good morning from Scottville MI

Happened upon some deadweight pulling this weekend and glad I did, it's a whole different art form for sure. Coverage in next hook, arriving earlier than the one currently in mail!

My favorite style of pulling. I feel you get more bang for the buck. I'd buy a subscription if you covered this style of pulling more.

I'd cover it more if there was more opportunities. I really enjoy it and Rushville Indiana is closest regular dead weight hook to me. I'm up for some dead weight on cement as soon as I can go!

breaking hitches, castings and rear ends does not sound fun to me,jerking and jumping has nothing to do with power, finesse or anything close to sport.

In the 25yrs I've been around this style pulling I have seen 2 broke draw bars and 1 Farmall H cast center break. I have seen more engine failures T sled pulling with windows in the block. I own a Oliver that has been a dead weight puller for over 20yrs with very little that has ever broke. Most FAILURES are driver related, not starting with a tight chain, not paying attention to the clamps on the axle and wheels.

You obviously have got to hide behind a false username to stir the pot, because you can not add anything of substance to the discussion. Why don't you tell us who you really are and how much deadweight pulling you have really done.

My son and I really enjoy dead weight pulls. We call them Darby pulls here in W. Pa.. Our club has 3 this year. We have 4 pulling clubs within a hour of us and our club is the only one that still has them. It takes more than horse power to win at dead weight. More times than not a stock or near stock tractor has beat a hot tractor. I remember my son pulling in a 3000# class against a cockshutt 20, and a oliver 66. He pulls a farmall BN. They couldn't move the sled but He Full pulled it. He was 11 years old then.
I think everyone should try it youjust might like it.
thanks

I prefer transfer sled pulling to dead weight, but I do like dead weight pulling on dirt. I'm sorry if you've never been to a good dead weight pull or one where no one is willing to take the time to explain some of the finer points. No idea where you are from, but if you are passing through SE Michigan check out the dead weight pulls at clatc.org and mmogta.org.

CLATC (County Line Antique Tractor Club) put on an excellent dead weight pull on dirt yesterday. No one broke and no bouncing was seen. A lot of skill was on display from the youngest drivers on up.

The County Line Antique Tractor Club will be having a dead weight on cement pull on May 24th in Webberville, MI.

Man is entitled to his opinion, his experience may well be different from mine. The dead weight pulls I've attended have had pullers who were very skilled and there wasn't any lurching or jerking or breakage. My thought is that if hitches and housings are getting broken--there's something wrong with that picture. Frankly the most violent and destructive hooks I've seen lately have been transfer sled hooks, antique or otherwise.

Again I had a good time...when done right deadweight pulling is an art form.

MMOGTA annual show, Oakley, Michigan, third weekend in August. 15, 16, 17 this year. Dead weight dirt, cement, steel wheel, and transfer sled all happens during the three days. Last year, Thursday before the show were jackpot transfer sled pulls. I believe the same will be this year too.

I recently attended the pull Saturday for the county line antique tractor club .I have to say this these people know how to have a good time and I even seen something that I probadly never see again in my life I seen a Allis Chalmers WC competing some heavy weight classes if I remember correctly it competed in the 4250 4750 and the 5250 pound weight classes and I have to say he did a really good job against the other tractors. I think he won two of the classes and did real in the other two classes respectively I think he was in the top 5 tractors as I sat there watching him it
reminded me of my dad when he boought a new Allis Chalmers WC in the late 30's what memorys that young man made me have thanks again good luck
