Natpa rules

Why do people keep adding classes and changing tire sizes. There is no way to please everybody. The pulls take way to long. Everybody who doesn"t win just drops down a class instead of building something better. The more classes they add just makes it last longer. Why cant it be simple like years ago. Any good 150 hp tractor can pull division 3 speed limit and weight it to the top of the class and be competitive. Every body wants to keep going down instead of improving. Just my opinion.

The way I see it is just because they change a tire rule doesn't mean you have to go out and buy that tire if its bigger than yours true?
I would love to build a bigger tractor but I don't have the room for one or the money to start over with a bigger tractor.
And my Farmall B wouldn't make a down payment on a Competitive engine.

The only reason NATPA added a tire size is to mirror the Div 2 tire size so that a guy that comes with a tractor that does not fit div 2 rules but has non altered tires has a place to pull in Div 2t instead of going home or trying there luck in Div 3 !

not everybody can afford a 150 horse tractor , but still wants to pull , why complain of too many tractors that just puts more money into the pull ,

I understand what Jr is getting at. I have seen clubs kill themselves by adding SOOOOO many classes that the time first kills the help (face it, its always the same core group of guys n gals) and second kills the pullers because it takes forever to get through a few classes. Its truly a double edged knife.

I have pulled all over the country, with 13.6 tires, was in the top three many times in classes of up to 36 entries,I always had the smallest tires. many were top cut too, more involved than tire size. I do agree though that too many classes is a problem with any motor sport.

Exactly. You totally explained it. I don't have nothing against the smaller tractors. I just think it takes to long to get to the classes that have tractors with bigger engines. The track is usually destroyed by then and it is a burn out contest with the drop pan sleds that they use. If they would pull heavy to light what would happen. The Napta would see what tractors have some power.

In our local pulling group we always alternate light to heavy then heavy to light at the next pull. That way the guy with a real heavy tractor isn't always the last to go down the track. When we start light to heavy some times we jump up a couple of classes if the track is to wet. We run a couple of classes to get the track in spape , then go back to the normal order of the pull. Our members are real accommodating and understand what it takes to have a nice pull. If anyone is interested in joining our group [no cost to join], come to our banquet-meeting in Monroeville Ind. at the park on the 27th at 1:30. Bring a covered dish, the meat will be provided. Our club gives out some nice jackets and plaques to our points winners and points placers. Everyone who signs up for a class gets something to show for their participation. It looks like there will be around 6 or 7 pulls for points. If there are 6 for instance, you would take your best placing from 4. that way if you have a conflict, the guy who makes all 6 wouldn't have a advantage. All our hooks are in a area not more than 50 miles from Ft. Wayne ind in any direction. As a note, we run top cut in our div. 2 although there may be some div. 1 non cut classes at a couple of pulls. We also will be running some 5 mph classes.

Do you go from 5000 up to 7500 with 18.4 38 tires full tires with 10 percent over rpms or is it a run what every you want. What is the cut off on the year. guess it doesn't really matter if it is a speed limit class. Just a question. Does your club use a very long chain or a shorter one so the tractors that have an engine can use it. Il go to some of your pulls what are the rules. Or phone number. Give me a call at 1-574-242-0237 Thanks

I'll have to defer to someone more knowledgeable on the tire rule. 20% over on rpm's and the normal chain length. Around 42" +or- a couple of inches at most pulls. The hook at Bluffton does have a longer chain since it's a older club transfer. 1959 on the year with series into the sixties if it's the same tractor, like a 460 for example. All tires are top cut only except any div. 1 , no cutting. You can call Kevin Banet [ 260-715-2520 ] for a explanation of the tire rule and where he has pulls booked so far.. Rules for 2014 will be approved at the April 27th meeting.
