division 2 rules

Per the next batch of NATPA Notes in The HOOK:

"Div 2T was discussed by the board and a slight tire change has been made. 16.9x34 (229 sq in max) will be allowed from 5000-6500 in Div 2T starting at the summer pull. 15.5x38 (200 sq in max) is still the max size from 3500 and up, but starting at 5000 a person may run 16.9x34 if they wish which somewhat mirrors Div 2. 7000 and up will still be 18.4x38 maximum in Div 2T."

please dont take this the wrong way, its just a comment for what im gonna say. 2t is only what, a year old, and we already got someone changing rules to suit em, in the name of whats best for everyone? ive pulled 5000 thru 6500 for 20 years, and a 15.5 is plenty of tire for 3mph for any puller in 2t. now, the guys who came to 2t, set up for 15.5s, now gotta go get another set of tires, and rims. i dont see the justification for a tire size increase. come on natpa, leave well enuff alone for a spell. quit giving into peer pressure n keep rules the same as they were, for atleast enough time, for a true study on why 16.9x34s would be better. they are not in my opinion. just seems like someone absolutly has to mess with a rule of some sort and cant leave well enough alone. as i mentioned, been pulling 15.5 tires for as long as i can remember being in the sport. also note all the interest a year ago, and now they gotta go spend more money, more time, more effort, and for who? for what?

why? top cuts not allowed in 2. 2t is a bunch of div 3 dropped down, n are they not allowed in 2 anyways? or am i mistaken?

what did a 38 john deere g come with stock for rear tires? 36s? if they was going by the book on tire sizes, nobody be happy unless your in a class that says stock rim diameter. most throw on 38s anyways! as i said, im not trying to rub anyone raw here, but that doesnt make sence to me at all when the limit was a 38s and most run em. u know that too.

2T is for guys like me that have a little more then d2 allows but cant compete w/the 18" tires & the hp needed to turn them in d3. If they had the small tire rule in d3 they wouldnt even need 2T! I agree w/high octain, just leave it alone.

I just got off the phone with Bob Bryan and he asked me to share his phone number with anyone who wished to discuss the 2T changes with him. 402-828-49three five

I rarely see 16.9 x 34" tires being used in Div. 2. If they had an advantage wouldn't the top finishers in those weight classes be running them? I haven't noticed it at the NATPA pulls I've attended. If they don't make much of a difference in Div. 2, I doubt if they will in Div. 2+.

Maybe someone could check the NATPA points standings for Div. 2 in the appropriate weight classes and indicate which pullers are running 16.9 x 34" tires. If there is much of an advantage it should show up in the placings at the pulls.

Ant pull you go to in southern Il and In top cut is 15.5X38. You started this class to help your hooks and it did now you have to go and se$w it up. I will never under stand why NATPA has to be different then every body else.

GCTC in Oklahoma allows 16.9 x 34 top cut starting in the 5000 pound class if they want. Some do and some do very good with the 15.5 x 38.

Thats because they have NO business being down there in DIV 2...if I were going to draw a line, Id at least throw a bone to the 88. They were at least close in stock form I dont know about the 44. An M was no where NEAR that.

Leave them pull we have two wc"s one div 2 one div 3 and arnt afraid to pull them against any m 44 77 88. We pull ours in the 5500 all the time and are generally are in the top 3
