New England Tractor pulls

This is an update on the NEATTA Farm tractor pulls. The dates and Rules are now posted on the website at NEATTA.org. The first pull is scheduled for April 6th at 9am as a test and tune pull. Our primary goal for that date will be to tech every tractor and let them know what needs to be done if anything to comply with the new rules. The insurance company we have has set guidelines that we need to follow for safety and we will be enforcing them strictly. We have plenty of classes for pullers at any level to fit into, so it should be a fun exciting season of pulling! I hope to see you all there.
Farm tractor rules

Whats the reason for this new insurance and regs? Was there an incident? At our last meeting(Western Mass Tractor Pullers), there was talk about insurance going up for other clubs.

There were no incidents, but we found out that our previous insurance with EDGE/TA only covered spectators and we had no member to member coverage. It really hurt our attendance, but now we have new insurance and everyone is covered. With any motorsport insurance can be expensive and strict. Many insurance companies didn't want to take on the motorsport category. This company seems great and coverage cost isn't too bad. They do have many safety requirements, and it has stirred some members up, but the way I look at it, safety is the most important thing and if I have to do what they want to continue to pull then I am going to do it.

We changed insurance companies. We had EDGE which does not cover tractors with any modification. We now have Allied event insurance which is requiring some new safety rules.

There are no gear rules. The different classes have different safety requirements to suit the tractors in each class. Someone with a John Deere may say that a 2nd or 3rd gear limit is unfair against an Oliver let's say, or vice versa. If we leave it open there will be less bickering that way. We looked at what tractors in each division would need for safety and set it up that way.

I would, but the average puller usually runs between 2000 and 2400 here and a farmall flywheel can handle that without a question. If you went over 3000 I would say no. The guys who are running high rpms and or modified motors run steel flywheels anyways. We set rpms at 3000 to let guys with 6 cylinders run their rpms up as well. Rpms and safety factors were discussed with the board of directors before the rules could be posted. I think our safety rules are much higher than any local fairs around, where we see 4 cylinders running 4-5,000 rpms with no safety precautions in place. Our hope is that members understand that kill switches and other safety rules we now have are insurance company mandated and we must follow them. After the first pull if your tractor doesn't meet the safety requirements, you won't be able to pull until they are met. It's very unfortunate, but in today's age we have to do it to protect the club and all of its members. We want fun pulls and all to go home safe after each pull.

To Super MTA and horsinaround, same manufacturer, but we
really won't turn anyone away in that class. There are only
about 3 venues where that division will be run anyways and
they are all fairs where we are putting on a show, so to make it
fun we aren't going to play the engine game ALOT of clubs
seem to be playing now. We just want to avoid frame mods to fit
a motor in a tractor. We want to put on fun pulls for everyone to
enjoy. We had planned on this class not happening and told
many that same thing before, as we had a hard time when we
mentioned it in the past, but we put it in when we submitted the
rules and classes to the board and it passed without a question.
It should be a popular class.

well they question i have is we are new to pulling in the area but we been to francis farm to watch the tractor races/pulls a couple of times .But we are a two tractor farm with a farmall h an a farmall 350 .The problem we have is the poor little H went boom an poke a small hole out of the dang block.so we aren't that rich so we want to know at the end of the hay season if we could pop the engine outta of the 350 an put it in the h to pull with you guys in dividion 2 .also are cuts tires allowed in div.2 the rules are not clear even though last year me an my friends seen some cut tires pulling up there .thanks for any info on this we really want to pull.

Hay, don't forget that hay season starts over again as soon as the first is done, LOL.

That is fine, there are a few h's running 350 blocks with us.
Justbe sure to have a kill switch and keep the rpm's below
3,000. Our tech is going to consist of upholding the safety rules
and making sure participants know where they should be
pulling. The bone stock class should be good for quite a few out
there. We will be working with drivers in that class to make it
basic yet fair and competitive. It may take the season to het that
class worked out, but in the long haul gives a place for a new
group of pullers to play.
