I want to make a hitch for my 460 D with Square steel tubing. I plan on it looking and bolting up like the standard hoop drawbar but i want it to be closer into the axle and not as wide and with a weight bar on it. Im going to be pulling right from the drawbar. what Size or type of tubing should i use?

most hitches that are done right are made of plate steel and different combinations of angle and what ever is needed to be as light and strong as possible

I saw on a post here not too long ago that there are tubes with different thickness walls. I expect that you would want thicker 2 inch. I will suggest making it longer than you need for a close in short hitch. On a soft track, at your lightest weight, you may be front heavy and need that extra draft that you get from a hitch point that is further back.

Here is a sketch of a hitch I had on a Oliver 77. I have since went with a more adjustable setup.
