i have a farmall 560 with a 301 it has 18.4-34 firestone 23 degree radials, it runs good, what gear could i run 5000 pound class with? is 4th do able? thanks

depends on the track, some think sand is clay,----WRONG !!!!!! Track reading is an art only a few can master. On clay with a "short" chain you will need 200 hp to spin at the end.

i had a 301 in a 460 and at 2500 rpms i couldnt pull 2nd gear. if you run it at 3500 up it would do 2nd and 3rd probably on some tracks.

In a 560, probly not. They're too heavy... Kinda pointless tractor for pulling. A 460 with 350+ cubes and 150+ horsepower will hang 4th in 4500-5000 lb class on a loose track. 3rd gear is easily doable as long as you have 100 horse and you're pulling 6500 and under. They're really easy tractors to get power out of though. Get a 301, a truck head, the big manifolds, some carb work and more Rpms and you've got an easy 100 horse.

Get a carb off of a 715 combine. It's the same as an 806, but it faces the right way. Take the electric fuel shut off out right away, make sure it has the biggest Venturi (#35) and bore out the main fuel jet with a 0.0120 or there abouts drill bit.
