310 oliver turbo diesel

Is there a connecting rod out there that will take the place of the original rod without having rods custom made? Trying to build one and dont want to worry about chucking a rod out the side of the block.

I don't know how fast you are going to spin it, but you can upgrade the originals to 12-point bolts and one piece wrist pin bushing for more durability.

I already have had the one piece rod bushings installed and have the new 12 point bolts but am still worried about things breaking.Do the bolts also have to have washers on them or are there just bolts?

Lynn, have you heat treated, "hardened" your current rods yet? A set of 310 rods hardened, straightened, and using good rod bolts, will hold up to plenty of horsepower and abuse, if you have questions drop me a email.

for what ive seen, the rod bolts are simply too long. the rod is a good design, but the bolts are a big problem. id take a rod cap, n counter sink the rod bolt holes, so you can use a shorter bolt and a better bolt. will clamp alot better and no long shank bolt that will flex and break, eventually.. good luck.
