Great deal on weight

So being the cheap person that I am, I dont want to just go out and pay $1 per pound on suitcase weights, which is what they typically go for around here.
I got a wicked deal on plate steel early this year and used that for weight. But I needed more as I was borrowing weight.
I called around to the scrap yards. One around here was willing to sell any kind of metal for $0.35 per pound. Doesnt matter what it is.
I got all the steel I needed to fabricate for my C, and more plate to make into hanging weights and they sold it to me for $0.32 per pound because I paid cash.
talk about a good deal. If you need weight, check out your local scrap yard.

sounds reasonable enough. I would rather buy suit case weights. making weights is a lot of time. I bought most of my weights for .75cents per pound. Are you gonna mess with your new c or leave it stock.

Just found 10 100# case weights at local yard.
Paid 600.00 was patient untill they got some in.

It's going to stay stock for now. At most it would get resleeved up to the 3 1/8 sleeves and pistons to be where most C's are. It'll pull 3500# and 4500# class. If it doesnt lose power I'll just keep the 3" flat top pistons in. It is in great condition, rebuilt some time in the past as there is no ridge on the top of the sleeves.

I dont have to do much to make these usable weights. I cut little hangars shaped as an L and weld them on. Thats it. I might make handles on them but total welding time is about 2 minutes per weight.
An example of one plate is 1.5" thick x 12"x12".

mostly like the one hanging on the front.

One of our pullers has his own salvage yard and has made a lot of weights for himself as well as some others. The beauty of these is they can be made thin and longer so your rack can hold much more weight.
