Am I the only one?

Obviously I'm in the business of building pulling parts. I personally know Kevin who "JD b puller" is referring to. Class act guy! I know for a fact that Kevin didn't hire you to start a war. I was going to keep my mouth shut until you felt the need to bash him for what? Paying you up front? Calling to check on the status of his parts? Being told they will be shipped and a month later still nothing. No answered or returned phone calls. I have found that 99% of tractor pullers are honest, hard working, competitive people. If I answer the phone everytime it rings I would never accomplish anything. Parts take longer than you expect to build sometimes. A simple phone call explaining why things are taking longer or I have not forgot about you goes a long ways. I urge people to keep calling. Keep me on my toes. All im saying is that Kevin and other people deserve the same respect they give you and or I when they trust us to deliver parts. This is my full time job building cranks, cams, rods, and complete builds....etc... Every person I do business with I Consider a friend and want to keep that way. Kevin deserved a better business transaction. Bash away

Quick off topic.
Did that unstyled head work out to be of any use? If so, keep it, if not toss it. I'll have work for you to do in the future anywho.

Couldnt agree more. A good business man will make his customer feel as they are needed, not the other way around. I've delt with guys who make me feel like I need them. Thats usually the last time I do business with them as I go to the guy/girl who makes his/her customer feel needed and appreciated.

Ive had two crankshafts at an unnamed crankshaft shop in Lancaster Wisconsin for almost two years. Im not happy about it nor is one of my customers. I haven't found the need to bash him online yet but its getting close. Most of the time he doesn't answer his phone or return my calls but as of late he has been pretty good at lying to me about the status of my parts. That makes me feel better!!

He's calling a spade a spade. If the guy can't get the stuff done due to health problems it's not the pre paid customers fault. Give the parts and money back or find a way to get it done. If he turned the work out, do you think he would wait a year to get paid even if the guy was sick. I don't think so.

Sometimes a shops client lists grows larger than shop can handle. I know this because I work a full time job while involved ln half owner of a shop as a buisness venture.

Josh I dont have anything in this debate but want to explain my opinion. When you take parts to a shop and pay them it should be done in a timely manner. People who pay want there parts and should get them. I know shops get busy and have reasons to be behind but there is no excuse for the customer to not get a call explaining the reason when they have thousands of dollars in shops checkbook. If they are to busy then they should not accept work untill they get some jobs finished. The only shop that I know of that really has been fast and got the job done has been Gary Baker. I have seen him help many people and answer questions that other builders wouldnt.

Gary is a magician when it comes to making big bore blocks, everytime I go down to his shop I'm like a kid in a candy store. Always a interesting project. And your right he will help anyone and everyone.

I also know Kevin, he is a good man, no doubt he is frustrated. I had a crank done at Cadillac Machine shop a few years ago, sent it to them in June and the guy told me it would be a month or so, after 3 months I called and he said it was at the welders, it was the following June when I got it back, I wish the guy would have just been honest that it would take a year, that was my only disappointment with the entire deal.

Perhaps there needs to be a written agreement on the delivery time, especially when the product is pre paid. Allow for some reasonable wiggle room for unforeseen problems. My biggest gripe would be having my tractor down for a long period. If you knew it would be let's say 6 months, you could put together a substitute part to use until the ordered part is done. I'd be po'd if I had my tractor apart thinking my it would only be that way for x amount of time.

That was my issue, would not have taken my tractor apart when I did if I knew it was sitting for a year.

Hi josh I talked to you about an a crank after we talked I was wanting some more info when is a good time to call and talk so I dont take your time away from your work?

Thanks james

Honesty and standing behind your work is huge.
For the little side job that I do, the people trust me and never question anything.
I know that they can take there work someplace else.
