1st season with the e3

Co-op EC

New User
So I have my first season of pulling under my belt and my E3 seemed to be good choice for my first tractor. Now I am looking what everybody is more power. I got my worn out smoky Co-op E3 and she treated me pretty well this year i finished in the top three almost every time I hooked to the stone boat and not so well on the T sled but thats more to my inexperience than anything. Now as the off season has come in my area I am looking for projects on the E3 I have been looking for carb up grades but don't know where to start there so any suggestion on that front would be great. The big project I am interested in this winter is possible removing the pto i know people do to pulling e3s often but i don't know where to start and don't take off to much and get into to more work than necessary. thanks in advance for the help

I run a e3 from 3500 to 5600 classes with a stock engine in dead weight and do very well. Got to love the hi lo trans. It almost seems it has the perfect hp to traction ratio as I can pull my tractor at just about a 1/4 throttle.

Well mine wieghs about 3450 with me on it and 15.5 38s yea the hi lo trans is great but I can only weight up to 4500 because I run out of room on the back

So back to my question does any one else know what I am talking about with removing the pto I have the power to go heavier but i run out of room on the back of the tractor because of the pto i have heard of people pulling the pto and plating it but how much should come off?

When I get to my Co oP tomorrow I will take a pic of My bracket on mine. It runs all the way across the back but the center is not accessible of the pto. I still can hang 5 100 lbs ford or ih weights on each side. Then built a belly bar off the two holes in the casting under the gas tank that will hold the same weight safely with lots of room to spare.

I have brackets for JD suitcases and i can get 5 on a side to but thats pretty much it and with out finding a wider trailer so i can get more room along the axle (space my tires out) i need to find another spot for weight because our club say weight has to stay behind the tires

Yea i only have one set of wheel weights I plan to set them up similar to what your saying but with them i can just about make 5000 but my club runs 5500 on 5000 so im still looking

Was wondering what kind of tricks you have to make these run a little stronger? This was my first year with the E3, did pretty good, but could use more power to go past 4500lbs? Seems to run good with no smoke, starts easy, idle is a little lopey? Not sure, but Im don't think it's spinning to max rpm's. Still on original 11-38's, heavy frame, 3600lbs with 150lb driver.

Well to start i don't know what the rules are in your area but here no one cares about rpm rules and we all wire the governor springs tight that will get you some more power i know i was a little under powered compared to every on else until i learned that lesson.

All of our rules state a "working" govenor, but maybe I could take off my existing spring and try to find one that's stupidly stiff. Thanks for the reply.

Yea there are people that do that too you are running pretty heavy for stock tire size do are you counting a set of wheel weights

hope this pic helps

I removed the PTO from my E3 and brothers 30, just unbolted the PTO on the back and pulled it out, had to lift up on the shaft that goes through the front of the transmission in order to get it to come out, then put a PTO delete plate on the back.

thanks for the pic and to smokeshow who emailed me about the same pic they were what i was looking for. how are your wheelie bars set up red 30 i am still looking to build them too
