Don"t see a lot about cement pulls on this forum, since we just finished a fun one at MMOGTA, thought I"d pass along a pic or 2

There's still several dead weight pulls around here [north east ind.]. The fellow pictured should take about 2# of air out of his tires. He's not getting the full lug to the cement.1 or 2#'s makes a really big difference with this type of pulling. Fun to do, boring to watch.

How does cement pulling work? I may be missing something but it looks like you Just hook on and see if you can move it??

If anyone thinks it is boring, you ought to come watch em' at MMOGTA. It's the Saturday night highlight of the tractor show (in front of the beer tent). Smoke, wheelies, tires jerking left to right, front ends bobbing in the air and bouncing off the ground, and the occasional whistle of a turbo.

YA YU BETTCHA BOYS,HERE INNNN IOOWWA WE LIKE TO WATCH THE PAINT DRYY 2 !!!!!*8((*^%$3 ole, let's go watch demm dumb a**'s !!!!!!!!!!! why did you not include an occasional broken housing. yah ----vell eech 2 iss ownn.

Do you run extra motor oil so when the front comes up that far and the oil runs to the back of the crankcase that the oil pump in the front of the crankcase doesn't suck air?

Ethan, that's the "hospitality" tent (pavillion). Re: the excitement level of cement pulling, the audience response at MMOGTA casts the decisive vote...they LOVE it. For an animated look at the sport, see the other post headed "Last Cement Pull of the Season". These are "dead weight" pulls, although for years we did them on the percentage basis. Currently weight classed. We use a tipover indicator for a complete pull (mebbe about 15 ft?) and measure the remainder of the attempts. Like any pull, there is occassional mechanical carnage, but I personally know of several of these tractors that have been competing for decades. One can hit immoveable objects in a farm field, as well. We have been doing cement pulls here in the area for nearly 40 years, just wanted to add a little diversity to this forum. Thnx for all the views and responses.

so if you had completly bald tires would they work better? or a giant set of drag slicks? looks like a fun time. i think i would get a chair in the "hospitality" tent

In Fowler, Westphalia, and Pewamo, the parishes call it a "social tent". Yes, it's quite social. I love the percentage pulling!

So the tires wear nice and sharp on the normal front edge of the bars/lugs. Then you turn the tires around the right way when pulling on dirt for better grip.
